100 Years Old Cast Iron Stairway
In times of yore, everything used by us was not only utilitarian but aesthetically delightful.
At the joining of the corridor between the Colonnade and the Mixed Lounge is the more than 100 years old Cast Iron Stairway. It is made of Cast Iron, with some delicate work on the supports. There were two such staircases one as mentioned above and the other at the rear-side connecting the Admin Block with the Main Building. Both were in various stages of dis-repair. We managed to “Cannibalize”, and got the main building staircase functional and in original shape.
This was made by Richardson Cruddas India Ltd; which is still in existence, but they do not deal with CI products anymore!
